🌼🐝 Our fifth graders got hands-on with science as they used Cheetos to model how pollinators like bees and butterflies transfer pollen from one flower to another! 🐝🦋 Students explored plant reproduction and the important role pollinators play in ecosystems. 🌱🔬 Who knew science could be so cheesy?! 😄🧀💙💛

All parents/guardians are invited to attend Operation Parent: Community Circle. The event will be held on September 29 at the Pickaway County ESC. Food will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the conversation starting at 6 p.m. Vendors will also be set up around the gym, providing families with valuable resources, guides, information, and helpful tidbits to support our youth and families.

👀👂👃👅✋ Our kindergartners are learning all about the five senses! ✋ They put their sense of touch to the test as they reached into mystery bags and tried to guess what was inside. So much curiosity, excitement, and hands-on learning! 💙💛

September is Attendance Awareness Month. We will be sharing information about Ohio’s attendance laws and what they mean for Teays Valley families. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to learning and build strong habits for success. Communicate challenges, such as transportation, health, or family needs, so we can help connect you with supports.

We welcomed our Teays Valley staff back for our annual Convocation in the TVHS auditorium this morning! It’s always special to bring our entire team together in one place as we prepare for another great school year. During Convocation, we celebrated and recognized staff members and heard an update and inspiring message from Superintendent Kyle Wolfe as we look ahead to the year to come. We’re grateful for the dedicated teachers, administrators, support staff and team members who make a difference for our students every day. We’re ready for a great year!

We had the privilege of surprising five outstanding members of our Teays Valley team with special honors during this morning’s Convocation! 🌟 ALL In Award Brittany Brushart — Ashville Secretary Pam Elder — Bus Driver The ALL In Award recognizes employees who go above and beyond the call of duty — setting high standards, paying attention to the details and always being willing to go the extra mile. 🍎 Educator of Excellence Award Christy Rigsby — Ashville Kindergarten Teacher Melinda Sauerbrun — West 7th Grade Teacher Alissa Streitenberger — South Bloomfield Preschool Teacher The Educator of Excellence Award honors outstanding educators who make a difference through their dedication to students, excellence in teaching, involvement in our community and commitment to the values of Teays Valley. We are incredibly proud of these five deserving staff members and grateful for the positive impact they make on our students, colleagues and Viking community each day. Congratulations to John Hyder, Heidi Miller, and Laura Nungester, who received their Golden Apple in recognition of entering their 30th year in education! Thirty years of educating, encouraging, and making a difference in the lives of students is an incredible milestone. We are grateful for their years of dedication and service to Teays Valley and the countless students they have impacted along the way. We celebrated the incredible folks who keep our school running... our custodial and maintenance teams! We shared great food and a little friendly competition. A massive thank you to this amazing crew for working endlessly behind the scenes to get our facilities sparkling and ready for the new school year. We appreciate everything you do!

What an incredible way to wrap up the summer! ☀️💙 Our final Playground Pop-Up and PTO Back-to-School Bash was a huge success! It was wonderful to see so many of our Viking families laughing, playing, and connecting before the start of another amazing school year. A heartfelt thank you to Teays Valley Educational Foundation (TVEF) for generously sponsoring our Summer Activity Bags and to our amazing South Bloomfield PTO for bringing Business of Bounce and making the evening even more fun for our students! We also want to extend a very special thank you to Holly, Meg, Mrs. Perry, Mr. Mendenhall, Mrs. Fletcher for your help tonight. Also thank you to Mr. Lemieux and Mrs. Swanger for their time, energy, and dedication in making these events possible. Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer. We can’t wait to welcome our Vikings back to school soon! 💙💛

As part of Viking Academy, 70 staff members, including teachers, administrators, secretaries and bus drivers had the opportunity to visit Arsenal-1 at Anduril, gaining a firsthand look at the innovative work happening right here in our community. The visit provided valuable insight into the exciting career opportunities in manufacturing available to both our students and community members. Experiences like these help us better connect classroom to careers while continuing to strengthen our partnership with Anduril. We’re excited to keep building this relationship and expanding opportunities that will prepare our students for successful futures, right here in their own backyard. #VikingPride

It's still summer... but inside our buildings, the learning has already begun! Today marked the kickoff of Viking Academy, our three-day professional development event, and our staff members are making the most of their summer by investing in new ideas, collaborating with colleagues, and sharpening their skills for the year ahead. Thank you to all of our educators for choosing to spend part of your summer growing alongside one another. We can't wait to see all the great things you'll bring back to your classrooms!
