👀📚 Learning Walks are underway! Our kindergarten and first grade teachers are kicking off a new opportunity to learn from one another, collaborate, and celebrate the great things happening in our classrooms! Today, our kindergarten teachers visited first grade classrooms to observe, gather ideas, and share in the learning. 💙💛 We believe the best learning happens together. When we learn together, our students benefit! 🌟

🌾 Ag Day! 🌾 Our 4th graders had a fantastic day at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds learning all about agriculture and the many ways it impacts our everyday lives! 🚜🐄🌱 A HUGE thank you to the Pickaway County Farm Bureau, Pickaway Soil & Water Conservation District, Teays Valley FFA, and Westfall FFA for providing such a fun and hands-on learning experience for our students! We are grateful for the community partners who help bring learning to life! 💚

💙💛 Grateful for organizations that show up when our families need it most. Our 1st graders ended their space unit with some out-of-this-world activities! 🚀🪐👩🏾‍🚀🌎☀️ Students have been learning about the sun’s energy, day/night patterns, planets, astronauts, and our moon. They extended their learning with some additional topics and hands-on activities!

💙💛 Our K–2 students welcomed the Pickaway County REACH Program into their classrooms for an important lesson about celebrating our differences! Through a fun game of Four Corners, students learned that it’s okay for people to have different ideas, opinions, and ways of thinking and that we can respect each other even when we don’t agree. 💛💙

🍦💙 Buddy time is the BEST time! Our 2nd and 5th grade buddies met up on the playground for some sunshine, smiles, and popsicles! ☀️🍧 We love watching these friendships grow at SBE! 💙💛

🚌📚 A big thank-you to one of our amazing bus drivers for stopping by to read with our kindergarteners! Our students in Mrs. Stephen's class enjoyed books all about buses while learning important bus safety rules and expectations. We love when our school community helps our youngest learners stay safe, learn, and grow! 💙💛🚌

South Bloomfield Elementary 2nd graders had a special visitor as Meteorologist Sarah Converse stopped by to talk all things weather!
Students learned more about meteorology, how weather is predicted and what it’s like to be a meteorologist. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn from a real-world expert about a topic they’ve been exploring in the classroom.

🎨🌸 Art inspired by Monet! 🌸🎨 Our third graders got creative using drawing, paint, and salt to recreate the beautiful pond lily artwork of Claude Monet! They experimented with color, texture, and technique while creating their own versions of Monet’s iconic water lily scenes. What a beautiful way to bring art and creativity to life! 💙💛

👀👂👃👅✋ Learning through all five senses! 💙💛 This quarter in Arts & Letters, our kindergartners have been learning about the five senses. As part of their learning, students read Last Stop on Market Street, which features a character who is blind. To bring this lesson to life, McKenna Helms, Vision Impairment Specialist, visited South Bloomfield to teach our students how individuals who are blind read and write using Braille. Students learned about Louis Braille, explored the Braille alphabet, and even got to see a Teays Valley student who is blind demonstrate how he uses a Braille machine to write. What an amazing opportunity to connect literature, science, and real-world learning! 📚✨ We love giving our students experiences that help them learn, understand, and see the world from different perspectives. 💙💛

Mrs. Kincaid's class had some hands-on fun! Students followed a recipe to make fruit dip, learned how to use an apple slicer, and enjoyed creating their own caramel apples with a variety of toppings. A fun way to practice following directions, making choices, and building independence! 🍏🍎

🌼🐝 Our fifth graders got hands-on with science as they used Cheetos to model how pollinators like bees and butterflies transfer pollen from one flower to another! 🐝🦋 Students explored plant reproduction and the important role pollinators play in ecosystems. 🌱🔬 Who knew science could be so cheesy?! 😄🧀💙💛

All parents/guardians are invited to attend Operation Parent: Community Circle. The event will be held on September 29 at the Pickaway County ESC. Food will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the conversation starting at 6 p.m. Vendors will also be set up around the gym, providing families with valuable resources, guides, information, and helpful tidbits to support our youth and families.

🎶💙 Making music and making connections! Our friends in Mrs. Bristles’ class had a great time exploring rhythm, movement, and fun through music therapy. 💙💛 #SBEChampions

👀👂👃👅✋ Our kindergartners are learning all about the five senses! ✋ They put their sense of touch to the test as they reached into mystery bags and tried to guess what was inside. So much curiosity, excitement, and hands-on learning! 💙💛

🏆💙💛 We are SBE CHAMPIONS! 💛💙🏆 We kicked off PBIS today with lots of energy, teamwork, and Minute to Win It fun! ⏱️🎉 📚 We are learners. 🌟 We are leaders. 🤝 We are friends. 🏆 We are SBE CHAMPIONS! Here’s to a year of making good choices, showing kindness, and being our very best! 💙💛

September is Attendance Awareness Month. We will be sharing information about Ohio’s attendance laws and what they mean for Teays Valley families. Regular attendance helps students stay connected to learning and build strong habits for success. Communicate challenges, such as transportation, health, or family needs, so we can help connect you with supports.

🦸‍♂️💙 Our hallways were filled with heroes today! 💙🦸‍♂️ Our students were excited to welcome OmegaMan to school! He brought plenty of smiles, energy, and superhero fun to our day while reminding us to BE KIND, HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE, STAY POSITIVE, and DREAM BIG! 💙💛 A huge thank you to SBE PTO for sponsoring this fun and memorable assembly for our Vikings! 🦸‍♂️✨
