We welcomed our Teays Valley staff back for our annual Convocation in the TVHS auditorium this morning! It’s always special to bring our entire team together in one place as we prepare for another great school year. During Convocation, we celebrated and recognized staff members and heard an update and inspiring message from Superintendent Kyle Wolfe as we look ahead to the year to come. We’re grateful for the dedicated teachers, administrators, support staff and team members who make a difference for our students every day. We’re ready for a great year!

We are incredibly proud of these five deserving staff members and grateful for the positive impact they make on our students, colleagues and Viking community each day. Congratulations to John Hyder, Heidi Miller, and Laura Nungester, who received their Golden Apple in recognition of entering their 30th year in education! Thirty years of educating, encouraging, and making a difference in the lives of students is an incredible milestone. We are grateful for their years of dedication and service to Teays Valley and the countless students they have impacted along the way. We celebrated the incredible folks who keep our school running... our custodial and maintenance teams! We shared great food and a little friendly competition. A massive thank you to this amazing crew for working endlessly behind the scenes to get our facilities sparkling and ready for the new school year. We appreciate everything you do!

As part of Viking Academy, 70 staff members, including teachers, administrators, secretaries and bus drivers had the opportunity to visit Arsenal-1 at Anduril, gaining a firsthand look at the innovative work happening right here in our community. The visit provided valuable insight into the exciting career opportunities in manufacturing available to both our students and community members. Experiences like these help us better connect classroom to careers while continuing to strengthen our partnership with Anduril. We’re excited to keep building this relationship and expanding opportunities that will prepare our students for successful futures, right here in their own backyard. #VikingPride

It's still summer... but inside our buildings, the learning has already begun! Today marked the kickoff of Viking Academy, our three-day professional development event, and our staff members are making the most of their summer by investing in new ideas, collaborating with colleagues, and sharpening their skills for the year ahead. Thank you to all of our educators for choosing to spend part of your summer growing alongside one another. We can't wait to see all the great things you'll bring back to your classrooms!

Last night we welcomed our Key Communicators group for an engaging and productive meeting. We appreciate the parents and community members who joined us to learn more about what’s happening in Teays Valley Schools and help keep our community informed. We had some special guests during the November Board of Education meeting… these Ashville Elementary School students joined us to share some of the great things they are learning in the new elementary STEM program. After a presentation by STEM teacher Jess Vonins about the program, these young Vikes demonstrated how they can program their robots. We loved seeing these lessons in action!

Today during Summer Learning Camp, students took part in a Music Therapy session filled with rhythm, creativity, and connection! These sessions help students build social and communication skills in a fun, engaging way.

After years of dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment to our students and schools, these incredible individuals are closing one chapter and beginning a well-deserved new one. The TV Educational Foundation awarded $20,000 to the Teays Valley elementary schools to support the launch of a brand-new STEM class for the upcoming school year! This exciting addition will become part of the specials rotation at all four elementary schools, giving every student the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on, engaging activities. The goal is to spark curiosity, foster problem-solving skills, and lay a strong foundation in these critical areas starting at a young age.

The Ashville Elementary 1st graders organized a donation drive to support the Pickaway County Animal Shelter. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of our community, we were able to collect much-needed supplies for our furry friends.

A group of TV staff members wrapped up Orton Gillingham training today. This training is a structured approach to helping struggling readers. The skills gained and reviewed during this training will be invaluable for our students!

Congratulations to the TV treasurer’s department, which is led by treasurer Trey Fausnaugh. They were honored by the Ohio Auditor of State with the Auditor of State Award at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. Of the 6,000 entities that are audited each year, this award is only given to the top 10%. We are grateful for this department for their dedication to the district and its finances.
