Selection Process for Membership into National Honor Society, Teays Valley Chapter
Junior and Senior students who are eligible with a cumulative 3.5 G.P.A. and higher will be notified of their eligibility and provided an application in September. Students will have roughly a month to complete and submit their application. It is important for eligible students to read the application carefully and take this opportunity to really brag about themselves.
All student applications will be evaluated based on a point system that will take into account teacher recommendations based on character, leadership based on activities and an essay, scholarship based on their cumulative GPA and service hours completed during their high school career. Essays will be scored anonymously by a committee of faculty members. A student must earn at least 9 points to become a member. Please see the NHS rubric

Within a week of the faculty committee meeting to score essays, total points will be tallied and all students will be notified by letter of whether they will be inducted into the National Honor Society or not. In this letter, students who are accepted will be given details of when Induction Practice and the Induction Ceremony will be held.
