The Teays Valley Department of Teaching & Learning provides leadership & assistance in the areas of curriculum, instructional practices and assessments. The department contributes to student success in the following ways:
- Aligning Teays Valley’s curriculum maps and pacing guides to Ohio’s Learning Standards
- Implementing best teaching practices and supporting them through professional development
- Implementing and overseeing a variety of assessment tools used to monitor student learning
- Using data to focus instructional improvement and meet the unique needs of all learners.
Instructional Specialists provide support to schools and teachers as appropriate in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and standards. Instructional Specialists facilitate staff development and in-class modeling and coaching in order to improve student achievement. Teays Valley has four Instructional Specialists:
Devin Anderson: K-5 Literacy Specialist (Ashville & Walnut)
Kim Hastler: K-5 Literacy Specialist (SB & Scioto)
Victoria Holt: 6-12 Math and Science Specialist (East, West, HS)
Amy Horsley: 6-12 ELA & Social Studies Specialist (East, West, HS)
