Competition Writing Club

The West competition writing club consists of 6th-8th grade students who are interested in writing. Students write in a variety of genres and compete in a variety of competitions both locally and nationally. They meet once a week after school for an hour.  During this time, they hone their craft as writers, learning how to create pieces of literature and communicate their ideas and thoughts. They write persuasively, poems and stories. Competitions cover a variety of topics and are sponsored by numerous organizations and authors, both locally and around the country. Annually, when health and safety permits, they invite local schools in and around Pickaway County to join us for a competition, Creative Chaos, where writers, grades 6-12, compete for individual and team prizes. The judges are local community volunteers who provide feedback and celebrate our young budding authors.
