South Bloomfield Elementary recently received a $4,000 grant from the Kinder Morgan Foundation for a SMART Board and a SMART Board response system. The grant was made possible by a proposal written by South Bloomfield 4th grade teacher Barry Pursell.
The response system will allow students to electronically answer questions displayed by the teacher on the SMART Board, which is an interactive white board. This gives teachers a way to see where students need additional instruction, as well as helps to keep the students engaged in the lesson.
"We were thrilled to learn that we awarded this grant. I am excited about the ways that the teachers will be able to use this new technology in the classroom. Barry should be commended for taking the initiative to submit the grant application that brought this wonderful technology to our school," principal Craig Lautenschleger said.
