Ohio’s Report Card System
In Ohio, each school and the school district as a whole is given a designation based on various criteria. The schools received the following designations for the 2009-2010 school year:

Excellent
- Most students are passing all the proficiency tests, attending school and/or graduating; or
- More students are scoring proficient or above on proficiency tests than are getting basic or below basic/limited scores.
Effective
- Most students are scoring proficient or higher on most of the proficiency tests, attending school and/or graduating; or
- More students are getting proficient, accelerated or advanced scores on proficiency tests than are getting basic or below basic/limited scores.
Continuous Improvement
- Most students are passing some of the proficiency tests, attending school and/or graduating; or
- More students are getting basic and proficient scores on proficiency tests than are getting accelerated, advanced or below basic/limited scores; or
- Test scores have improved by 10 Performance Index points or more over the last two years; or
- Adequate Yearly Progress was met.
Academic Watch
- Most students are passing several proficiency tests, attending school and/or graduating; or
- More students are scoring below basic/limited and basic on proficiency tests than are scoring proficient or above; or
- Test scores have improved by 10 Performance Index points or more over the last two years; and
- Adequate Yearly Progress was not met.
Academic Emergency
- Very few students are passing a few proficiency tests, attending school and/or graduating;
- Far more students are scoring below basic/limited and basic on proficiency tests than are scoring proficient or above;
- Test scores have improved less than 10 Performance Index points over the last two years; and
- Adequate Yearly Progress was not met.
