Our Mission
“The mission of Teays Valley Schools is to educate and encourage each student to lead a productive life.”
Teays Valley Learning Community,
It is with much excitement that I welcome you to the 2012-2013 school year! I hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to begin a new year. The Teays Valley Elementary Schools have much to celebrate. We are very proud of the high achievement our students continue to demonstrate!
This year, we will continue to transition to the new Common Core and revised Ohio Science and Social Studies Standards. Grades K-2 will fully implement the new standards, and we are beginning to transition grades 3-5. The principals, teachers, and support staff have been dedicating a lot of time to ensure we are meeting the rigor of the new standards and preparing our students appropriately to experience success now and in the future. Grades K-2 will also be using a standards-based reporting system. Standards-based reporting more accurately measures how a student is progressing toward meeting the education standards.
We are excited to expand gifted and talented programming to provide more comprehensive services. We are devoted to ensuring that all students are achieving at high levels and that appropriate and challenging learning opportunities are made available for our gifted population.
We also understand that sometimes our students need support. We are committed to identifying those in need of help early and providing appropriate interventions. Teays Valley uses a process referred to as Response to Intervention (RTI). RTI is a method of using academic interventions to provide early assistance to children who are having difficulty learning. RTI seeks to prevent academic failure through early intervention, frequent progress monitoring, and increasingly intensive research-based instructional interventions.
I am encouraged to be a part of a learning community where we collaborate to provide the best education possible for our students. The elementary experience is an exciting time! Here, we begin to foster life-long learners.

This website is currently under construction. It is being developed as a resource to highlight the work that is being done by our staff in the grade levels. It is also an effort to communicate the work we do with all of our stakeholders – staff, students, parents, and community members. Please feel free to discuss any of this work with the staff as they are involved in the process.
*Please note that all of the documents are “works in progress” and under continuous revision and development.
