Junior and Senior students who are eligible with a 3.5 G.P.A. will be notified of their eligibility through a letter in early March. The letter will also include a Student Information Form, which must be filled out and returned by the specified deadline. It is very important for eligible students to write on the form as many Leadership, Service, and Character qualities that they possess.
All Student Information Forms will be evaluated by an anonymous five-member Faculty Council that has been chosen by Mr. Keel. The council will also take into account teacher recommendations based on Character, Leadership, and Service. A student must receive at least 3 of the 5 votes to be accepted into NHS.
Within 5 days of the Faculty Council meeting, all students will be notified by letter of whether they will be inducted into the National Honor Society or not. In this letter, students who are accepted will be given details of when Induction Practice and the Induction Ceremony are.
Any students who are not accepted have the right to appeal. These appeals must take place through Mr. Keel, but they can only be based on their previously turned in Student Information Forms. These appeals must be presented within 2 days of their notice of not being accepted.
